The Board of Health is appointed by the Mayor and meets on the third Thursday of the month. The Board of Health is comprised of a chairperson and two other members. The Board of Health's purpose is to insure and protect the public health of the community by adopting relevant local health regulation, carry out preventative programs and enforcing the State sanitary and environmental codes. With the encouragement of the Mayor and City Council, the Board of Health and the Director of Public Health work to improve the quality of life for Newburyport residents.
